– Small photos of French war orphans : Raymond Wack (Baby 470), Maurice Lafontaine (&36), Juliet Haunet (864), Suzanne Bissonnier (857), and Micheline Morlet (9).
– Full page black and white ads for Michelin (with art by Arthur Edrop), John Walker & Sons (Johnnie Walker Red Label, art by Leo Cheney), White Company (White Sixteen valve 4, with art by Teale), Chandler Motor Car Company (excellent art by Signed with an fancy signature but I can’t find it in another reference, perhaps H W. Crompton), Velvet tobacco (with fun art), Havoline oil (pour this oil on the troubled sea).
– Full page art or cartoon art by William L. Jacobs (Why, Helen, I think eleven proposals in one week is positively immodest), Paul Reilly (the biography of a little joke), Charles Dana Gibson (Congratulations … Lady Liberty shaking the hand of President Woodrow Wilson, presumably for joining the war effort), Reginald Bathhurst Birch (Don’t you read the papers?),
– Another piece by the chief editoral writer pertaining to getting into the European war, but late.
– Two page centerspread art by Charles Broughton, “Welcome Russia!” Lady Liberty on the Russian Bear, pertaining to Russians helping in the war effort.
– Some current events include : The conscription bill is on its triumphant way through Congress; Marshal Joffre of France is due to visit the USA soon; French envoys say Send some troops soon and let their final training be done on French soil; Includes a small artwork of Uncle Sam cultivating a field of rifles with bayonets (Ought to be a record crop by fall, art by Harrison Cady).
– Each original Life magazine has MUCH more excellent historic and fun 1917 content than is listed here – 2Neat!!
